With many of the 299k jobs provided by NYC’s nightlife erased, a team of volunteers from the independent live music industry came together to form NYC Nightlife United.

+ What is NYC Nightlife United?
NYC Nightlife United (NNU) was born out of the need to support and center small, independently-owned businesses that enrich the culture of nightlife in NYC. NYC Nightlife United is raising funds not only for venues but also for the artists, producers, and employees that work at them with a primary focus on supporting BIPOC-owned and led businesses who create safe spaces for BIPOC and the LGBTQIA communities.
Vision: An equitable rich nightlife culture in NYC that not only survives closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but is able to reopen as a stronger, healthier, and more creative community.
Core Values:
- A Diverse, inclusive, and vibrant Nightlife scene is essential for the cultural well-being of NYC.
- Independently-owned venues provide a livelihood for the artists, musicians, and entrepreneurs that make up NYC’s creative class.
- Black and brown-owned and led businesses and business owners face unique challenges around financing, support, and access to resources and must be centered.
- Safe spaces that are inclusive of everyone and center LGBTQIA, Black and brown folks are necessary across the nightlife spectrum.
- Spaces that focus on equitable and ethical labor practices that foster and respect the talents of artists and creatives must exist in order to keep NYC’s nightlife and music culture healthy.

Foundation for Independent Artists is a comprehensive fiscal sponsorship program which offers performing artists instant 501(c)(3) incorporation without the challenges of incorporating. FIA provides artists and artist organizations with various administartive support services including bookkeeping, payroll services and insurance. FIA is a program of Pentacle.
